Sometimes a band begins in a recording studio. Sometimes it begins with a plan.
And sometimes it begins with a conversation at a little beach bar.
For Waveroo, that place was 935 Surf Shack in Hampton, New Hampshire, a gathering spot near the legendary stretch of coastline surfers know simply as “The Wall.” It was there that Lucy Gaines, Chuck Morris, and Brian Marks discovered they shared more than a love of music. They shared a love of the ocean, the energy of beach towns, and that feeling you get when the right song meets the perfect summer day.
Growing up in New England, they understood something every northern surfer knows: summer is magical, but it doesn’t last forever.
The waves remain, but eventually the crowds disappear, the boardwalk gets quiet, and the cold Atlantic reminds everyone that beach season has an expiration date.
So they had an idea.
What if the music could follow the summer?
Waveroo began performing around the Hampton area, developing a sound built around bright melodies, upbeat rhythms, and songs designed to feel like sunshine. Their performances captured the spirit of long drives along the coast, late nights by the water, and friendships made somewhere between the sand and the surf.
Before long, Lucy, Chuck, and Brian decided their music could become their passport. They began taking Waveroo beyond New Hampshire, performing anywhere the beach culture was alive, from famous surf destinations to hidden coastal towns where people understood that the ocean has its own rhythm.
Their mission was simple: find the beaches, meet the people, play their songs.
Waveroo isn’t about where you’re from. It’s about where the music takes you.
With their easygoing style and feel-good sound, Lucy Gaines, Chuck Morris, and Brian Marks bring a different kind of energy to The Musicode Project, proof that sometimes the best journey isn’t chasing fame. Sometimes it’s chasing the next wave.
Guided by the creative vision and lyrics of JW Davis, Waveroo is part of The Musicode Project, where imagination, technology, and storytelling come together to create music that is More Than Zeroes and Ones.
